I'm Joseph Lawthers. I'm an entrepreneur and sales professional based in the Philadelphia area, but honestly, most of my life doesn't happen in front of a computer.
I got my start in the construction trades. Four years as an apprentice, five years as a carpenter. I spent nearly a decade learning how buildings go together before I decided to start building something of my own. That turned into Philos Property Solutions, a general contracting and remodeling company in Kennett Square, PA that I grew past $1M in annual revenue. Kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, basements, full-home renovations, commercial work. I did all of it, and I learned more about business in those years than I ever could have in a classroom.
Today I co-own Let's Get Trash, a debris removal service for contractors and property managers across Philadelphia and Lower Montgomery County. I also work in sales and business development, which is really just a continuation of what I've always done: building relationships, solving problems, and showing up.
Outside of work, I'm a dad to five kids (two step, three biological), which keeps life loud and full in the best way. I'm in the gym several days a week, picked up distance running last year, and I spend whatever free time I can find on trails or walking through art museums. I've always been drawn to things that require patience, whether that's a long run, a renovation, or raising kids.
I studied at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. I didn't finish my degree, but between two years of business school and a decade of actually running businesses, I've gotten the education one way or another.
